The Burmese army fought in the Chindit component under General Orde Wingate from 1943-1945. In the later stages of the war, the Americans formed the Kachin-American commandos and also fought for the Allies. Many other Burmese fight in British SOE forces. The independent Burmese army under the command of Aung San and the Arakan National Army fought with Japan from 1942-1944, but emerged against the Japanese in 1945.
